About This Item
5" x 6.25" leather bound photo album with an embossed Native American in a headdress on the cover. "Photos" is on the front and "Winnipeg" is on the back cover. There are 28 pages with one photo per page (except for one page with two photos) glued to the pages. Two photo are loose, for a total of 31 photos. Photographs mostly measure about 2.25" x 3.25," with a couple slightly larger. Most have handwritten identifications written directly on the photo. They include: city hall, Union bank, post office, CPR hotel and subway, "Soldier's Parade, Decoration Sunday, 1907," Winnipeg Fire Dept hose wagon, Main street, Robinson & Co., North End Hotel, homes in Stonewall, Lake Winnipeg, etc. There are also some photos of shanties and farming. As you can see from the scans, some of the photos are faded. In fact, there is one photo of a woman that is very faded and the caption reads "Gradually fading away." The album is complete and shows the early days of Winnipeg.
