The fisher is a fur-bearer larger than the marten. It dens in forests of the North. Novelist Cameron Langford bases this novel on fact, recounting one year in the fisher's life, from a spring of infancy until the next spring when his mating begins. The story is of struggle and survival while establishing hid territory in battles with fellow predators. Ultimately the fisher learns that man is the most dangerous predator. Mingled with the fisher's tale are other animals in his terrain: porcupines, foxes, bears, skunks and smaller animals. The tapestry is of interdependence of all wild creatures. Canada native and writer Cameron Langford was a keen observer from the wheelchair to which he was confined most of his adult life.
