About This Item

First edition. Hard cover. (1929) Good. No dust jacket. Ex-library. At least GOOD. Library pocket etc 139 p. Includes maps. 2 maps, both fold out of which one is extremely large Full title The Wintering Partners on Peace River From the Earliest Records to the Union in 1821 with a summary of the Dunvegan Journal 1806. Author James Nevin Wallace was a land surveyor. Book outlines movements of leaders in exploration and the fur trade
Books look like it has half leather but it may be all cloth and made to look like half leather. I would have thought that unlikely for a 1929 book, but I am no expert. Whichever it is, it is in very good collectible condition with red boards and decorated cloth, library provenance (pocket and BOOKSALE etc.) and no writing etc. 139 pages. It was published with two LARGE pull-out maps Peace River and Western Canada Map of the Peace is complete and good to very good with no damage. Because it so huge, the map of western Canada has repaired splits but nothing missing. Obviously the Peace River map is important to understanding the fur traders in the northwest.
The book includes at end, pp 122 to 136, The Dunvegan Journal. Dunvegan Fort was the best-know fort on the Peace. Author James. Nevin Wallace.
An important book to understanding life up there on the Peace in the 18th century. Wintering Partners were partners in the Hudson's Bay Company or North-West who acted as agents or retailers
