Half-bound in maroon leather over red and gold marbled paper-covered boards. Five raised bands on spine, with gilt edging and thistle design in four panels; two panels have black leather labels with gold lettering. Matching marbled endpapers. Top pages edges gilt. Gilt ruled borders. Red satin index ribbon in each volume. Black and white photogravure plates by Gebbie & Husson Co. have titled tissue guards. 395 + 396 pages. NOT ex-library. Bindings tight. Hinges NOT cracked. Corners and edges lightly worn; vol. 1 has boards exposed at some tips and on fore edge of front cover. Boards lightly rubbed. Spines darkened to more of a brown color. Pages lightly and uniformly tanned but still supple. Pages clean and unmarked. Some pages remain unopened (uncut) along fore edge. No dust jacket. Carefully packed, shipped in a box.
