In the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia, farm owner Mrs. Jouett Shouse offered her land to the U.S. Dept. of the Interior, National Park Service. By an Act of Congress in 1966, it became the first National Park for the Performing Arts, officially opened in 1971. It has been used year-round by people of all ages engaging in a variety of cultural activities. The Board of Directors in 1982 is listed inside. Initial sales of this book raised funds to support the Wolf Trap Picnic Cookbook helped defray the costs of the Wolf Trap Company training program.
