First book in the author's "Wolves Chronicles,'' for young adult (YA) readers, AND an unusual secondary collectible title featuring the artwork of the late, great Edward Gorey, who, though unattributed here, did the cover/spine art. Interior illustrations (pen-and-ink drawings) by Pat Marriott, which look amazingly Gorey-like. First published in 1962, this is a Young America Book Club Edition, c. 1963. Hardcover 8vo has brightly decorated paper over boards, with slight spine darkening. Condition is Near Fine: exceptionally bright & clean, binding strong & straight, hinges secure.
