Illustrated with a colour frontispiece and forty-five colour plates. Lacking plates sixteen, thirty-six, and forty-eight. A detailed and comprehensive study into the women of India and female life in the country, with chapters on marriage, aristocracy, the middle classes, working classes, aboriginal people, dancing girls, and woman's dress. Written by Otto Rothfield, a British author. Illustrated by Rao Bahadur Mahadev Vishwanath Dhurandhar, an Indian painter and postcard artist from the British colonial era noted for his popular illustrations of common colonial-era women. In the original pictorial cloth binding. Externally, smart with rubbing and light bumping to the extremities. Light fading to the spine with the odd mark to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with light scattered spotting and age toning to the extremities. A contemporary ink inscription to the front endpaper. With the tip of the endpaper neatly cut off. Good
