Cambridge, MA: Houghton Mifflin, 1893. Limited ed. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. 1893, the Edition de Luxe with Crane's illustrations. One of 250 copies, this one 'Publisher's copy unnumbered.' Hardcover, embossed parchment binding with gilt title and design. THIS COPY LACKS 3 PLATES from the Three Golden Apples story: Hercules and the Nymphs (pg. 112), Hercules and the Old Man of the Sea (pg. 120), and Hercules and Atlas (pg. 126). All of the other mounted color plates. Near Fine in the original green oil cloth dust jacket and matching slipcase. Hint of foxing to the text-block and margins of approx. 50 pages. DJ lightly edgeworn, minor fraying to spine ends. Slipcase also frayed at the corners; strong and attractive. A beautiful deluxe edition -- this copy lacking 3 plates.
