Marbled endsheets. 12mo. (4" x 6.5"). Illustrated with approximately 500 full page plate engravings. A stunning collection of plates and text depicting the pastoral and architectural wonders of Britain. Various mild rubbing to covers. Corners gently bumped. Full brown morocco, signed by René Kieffer, with narrow inlays in darker brown, and a wide gilt band, tooled with a pattern of triangles, top edge gilt, others uncut, marbled endpapers. Spine slightly darkened, otherwise fine. Matching slipcase. Printed on vélin teinté, this is one of 50 copies with a suite of the wood engravings on japon pelure. The 41 engravings in the suite are mounted and bound in at the end.

Finely bound by Cedric Chivers of bath in early twentieth century binding of full plum morocco. Spine with raised bands, the compartments ruled, decorated and lettered in gilt. Decorative line and floral design to both boards. Board edges double ruled in gilt. Mottled coloured endpapers. Turn ins with double ruled lines and floral design. Top edge gilt, others untrimmed. Two previous owner bookplates on the front paste down endpaper. A little fading to the spine but overall a very near fine copy.

Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Slipcase: Fine Second Edition. Four vols. Bound by Bayntun Riviere, Bath, England in 3/4 calf with marbled boards. Gilt top edge. Internally clean. Ownership bookplate on FFEPs. Vol. I external hinge has some external cracking to leather but still bound tightly. Light wear to the bindings. Some pencil underlines/markings to the text (can be erased). Also, a small number of pages have flaws with occasional stains/ and a few tiny holes. Overall, the internal pages are in excellent condition (minimal foxing and toning), given their age. The compartments are ruled, lettered and decorated in gilt. Top edges gilt. A finely bound set of this important collection.

A fine and clean copy in an early fine binding of half green morocco. The spine has two raised bands, each with decorative gilt tooling. Tan title label, gilt. Gilt ruled box designs. There is an illustrated multi coloured leather onlay design to the middle of the spine showing a couple walking in the rain, under an umbrella. Blue cloth on boards. Marbled endpapers. Top edge gilt. Previous owners colour bookplate to the front paste down. A fine copy in a fine binding. The binding is unsigned but certainly the work of a master bookbinder.

Longmans, Green, and Co. London. 1885. FIRST EDITION. Small 8vo. (6.5 x 4.5 inches). One small area of loss (finger nail sized) to the bottom inner margin of one page, well away from the printed text, and a few finger marks but otherwise a very good copy. Finely bound in recent full dark blue morocco leather. Spine with raised bands. Compartments ruled and decorated in gilt. Twin red labels, gilt. Single gilt ruled border to both boards. Top edge gilt, others untrimmed. An attractive copy of this charming book.

Spines with blind ruled bands and lettered in gilt. Gilt stamped Author's symbol device to the front boards. Blue marbled endpapers. Top edges gilt. Each volume with a red silk page marker. Housed in a red cloth covered slip case with marbled paper lining. The spines are a bit rubbed and there are a couple of small scratches but overall this is an attractive set of this important collection. Only a few sets were issued in these publishers delux leather bindings and they seldom turn up on the market.
