A beautifully bound six volume pocket sized collection of the works of Anglo-Irish novelist and cleric, Laurence Stern. In striking full straight grain morocco bindings.With an engraved portrait frontispiece of Sterne to volume I.With a 'Memoir of the Life and Family of the Late Mr. Laurence Sterne', written by the author himself, to volume I, and including his most famous works, 'The Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy' and 'A Sentimental Journey Through France and Italy', along with a selection of sermons and letters.With the armorial bookplates of Wittersham House, Kent, and John Singleton to the each volume. Uniformly bound in straight grain morocco, with gilt detailing. Rubbing to back strips, most concentrated to tails. Light rubbing to joints, most prominent to vol I. Front joint of volume I starting, with board holding firm. Armorial bookplate to front pastedown of each volume, and a further armorial bookplate to the front free endpaper of four volumes, and rear pastedown of two volumes. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright. Very Good
