London: Printed for J. Dodsley, and 12 others,, 1793. Early edition of Sterne's collected major works, which were first published from 1760, in an attractive Morrell binding to style. Ten volumes, duodecimo (172 x 112 mm). Finely bound by Morrell of London in brown speckled half calf, titles in gilt to red morocco spine labels, spines richly gilt, marbled boards and endpapers, all edges yellow. Engraved portrait frontispiece of Sterne by Sherwin, and 9 engraved plates after Hogarth, Rooker, Tomkins, and others. Neat ink ownership inscription "J. Woodhead, presented by the Honorable F. Fitzroy, 1797" washed from title pages. Short splits to front joints of vols. 1 and 8, corners a trifle rubbed, the bindings otherwise sound and unfaded, occasional light foxing to endpapers, else internally fresh and clean; a handsome set.
