Description

New York: Harry N Abrams Inc - New American Library, 1984. Trade Paperback. Very Good. 8 1/2" X 11. 151 Pages. A 1971 Netherlands Copyright. Cover have some minor edge wear and lightly turned up corners. Otherwise a tight book with a faultless interior. First eight pages of art in color with the remainder black and white. Escher was a Dutch graphic artist recognized primarily for spatial illusions, impossible buildings, repeating geometric patterns (tessellations), and his incredible techniques in woodcutting and lithography. Her was born in 1898 and died in 1972. His work continues to fascinate both young and old across a broad spectrum of interests. Escher had no formal training in math or science yet he was studied and greatly appreciated by mathematicians, scientists and ystallographers. He considered himself neither an artist or mathematician. Intricate repeating patterns, mathematically complex structures, spatial perspectives is what you will see here. The more you come back and look, the more you will see.
