About This Item
New York, NY: Scribner, 1896. hardcover. Good+. Complete works to date. Two more volumes were added to the set in 1899. Green cloth. Small 8vo., as pictured in other listings. Good-very good condition. Minor stain to front board of volume X, and minors cuff to spine of volume III. A handsome, charming set. Field first started publishing poetry in 1879, when his poem "Christmas Treasures" appeared in A Little Book of Western Verse. Over a dozen volumes of poetry followed and he became well known for his light-hearted poems for children, among the most famous of which are "Wynken, Blynken, and Nod". He had an uncommon gift for winsome wit, that was yet kind and gentle. Many of his works were illustrated by Maxfield Parrish. A memorial to him, a statue of the "Dream Lady" from his poem "Rock-a-by-Lady", was erected in 1922 at the Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago. Ships from Dinkytown in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Due to the size/weight of this set it is not available for expedited delivery; extra charges may apply for international shipping.
