About This Item

London: Victor Gollancz, 1975. 192 pp, 8" H. Red boards with gilt lettering on spine. "When Cedric Tremain is charged with murder-ing his father, by booby-trapping his fishing boat, all the locals agree that this wouldn't be his sort of crime. But the case against him is strong: he has the motive, the opportunity, the know-how; and there's some hard circumstantial evidence against him. So he is arrested. But there are things about the case which Chief Superintendent Wycliffe doesn't like. So he keeps nosing around. And his investigations lead him into the details of another murder case, one that is now twenty years old. Is it possible that there is some relationship between the two cases, and if so what? As Wycliffe, that most unorthodox of detectives, probes into the present and the past, our own suspicions and assumptions are being constantly challenged." Faint tanning to pastedowns and half of each free endpaper, four page leaves are slightly roughly opened at top edge - page leaf 85/86 has a few very small and tiny edge tears and tiny chips in top margin only. Dust jacket is price-clipped, has minor wrinkling at top edge of rear flap, minor tanning on inside of flaps.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/Very Good.
