About This Item

Oxford J.G.E., 7 Clarendon Villas, U.K, 1897. Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket. IN WELSH. THIS EDITION. From the Series Of Welsh Texts Edited By Prof Rhys. Preface : This edition is simply a reduced reproduction of pages 1-99 of vol. i of the Red Book of Hergest, edited by Professor Rhys and the writer in 1887. It is issued in this form to meet the immediate requirements of the Welsh Classes in the University Colleges of Wales, though it is hoped that its circulation will not be circumscribed by the walls of the lecture-rooms. As all the earliest known manuscripts of the Mabinogion and Arthurian Romances have been copied, and a complete edition with a full glossary and notes is in preparation, the bare text only is now offered. J. GWENOGVRYN EVANS. 99 rough trimmed pages, size 7.25 inches tall by 4.5 inches. Book - in Very Good yellow boards with black lettering - light marking to the back board and light bumping to the extreme corners and extreme ends of the spine. Contents, front and rear free endpaper have browned, previous owner's name otherwise clean, bright and tightly bound. A Rare Title. Text is in Welsh. Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: 201-750 grams. Category: Language & Linguistics; Welsh Language; Myths, Legends & Folklore. Pictures of this item not already displayed here available upon request.
