About This Item

Grosset and Dunlap, 1943. First Edition Later Printing . Hardcover. VG+/Near Fine. Laune, Paul. Book #3 (of only 9) in the children's series featuring flying ace Stan Wilson. Part of a larger genre of "air combat stories" that were wildly popular in the period surrounding WWII, these all featured heroic Americans battling foreign forces & always emerging victorious. In 208 pages + 4 pages of ads for other G&D children's series in rear. Decorative endpapers & frontispiece by Paul Laune. With green cloth-covered boards stamped with a back design & lettering to front & spine, this hardcover 12mo is in VG+ condition: would be Fine but for very mild dampstained streaks to bottom edges of both boards. Else, completely clean, binding strong & straight, hinges secure, pages heavily tanned, commensurate with wartime paper (notice to title page), but supple & unmarked. Corners sharp. The unclipped DJ is Near Fine: same light staining to bottom edges, but only on the back. Else, colorful & bright with just a hint of edgewear, a couple light foxed spots to the front-cover side of title on spine; beautifully protected in new mylar cover Free to look stunning in your collection! Our photos depict the Exact book you will receive, never "stock" images of books we don't actually have!
