About This Item

In English (also available in French and Greek). Cloth, 29x23 cm, 264 pp., ill.: 199 images.

Yannoulis Chalepas (Panormos, Tenos island, 1851 - Athens 1938) holds a special place in the history of modern greek art, and more specifically of sculpture. The aim of this book, in addition to offering a brief account of the life of the artist, is to make the public aware of his work. Photographs are published for the first time of almost all his sculptures, which are to be found in public and private collections. His work is analysed and an attempt is made to investigate in depth the unusual personality of the artist.
