1835. [in 1835 boards-and-label] London: Printed for Longman, Rees, Orme, Brown, Green, & Longman; and Edward Moxon, 1835. 4 pp undated ads (plus terminal erratum slip). Original drab paper-covered boards, with green cloth spine and printed spine label.

First Edition, of which only 1,500 copies were printed. The contents of this volume, which include about 75 of Wordsworth's sonnets, are all here appearing in book form for the first time. "Yarrow Revisited" itself refers to The River Yarrow (to the Ettrick to the Tweed) in the Scottish Border Country. Eight years later, following the death of Robert Southey in 1843, Wordsworth was asked to become poet laureate; he initially refused, saying that he was too old, but ultimately he relented and accepted, after Robert Peel assured him that "you shall have nothing required of you": Wordsworth took him at his word, and became the only poet laureate to write no official verses. This copy is in near-fine condition (original endpapers with hairline crack but tight, externally with very little wear) -- remarkable for a volume still in its original 1835 boards-and-label. Wise 23. Housed in a morocco-backed slipcase with inner chemise.
