About This Item
G. Bell & Sons, Ltd, London, 1912. First Thus. Hardcover (Original Cloth). Good Condition/No Dust Jacket. Illustrator: W. Russell Flint. 54 pages, list of colour plates, original cast for first production in 1888. Coloured Illustrated frontispiece by W. Russell Flint, and there are another seven full coloured plates within the text. Brown coloured boards with gilt-decorated -- ornate wreathed armorial border, and gilt writing on the front panel and spine. Gilt decoration on has also been applied to the spine. Bumping and rubbing to the head and to the heel of the spine and a little rubbing to the book corners. The cloth of the board has become rubbed and marked but surprisingly the gilt illustration on the front board is still bright and crisp, to a large degree, though the gilt on the spine has faded. Heavy foxing to the paper edges. Browning and foxing to the endpapers, in fact heavy foxing, though not on the coloured plates, throughout the whole book. The words to one of Gilbert and Sullivans' comic operettas. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Please refer to accompanying picture (s). Illustrator: W. Russell Flint. Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: Under 1 kilo. Category: Art & Design; Opera; Inventory No: 0104246. .
