Pp. viii+184, 16 plates, appendix, index; demy 8vo; light blue boards, lettered and decorated in black, the boards a trifle marked, edges slightly rubbed and bottom fore-corners faintly bruised; dust wrapper, a trifle soiled and foxed, edges lightly rubbed, the backstrip faded; book label of David Levine, Sydney, on upper pastedown, the free endpapers faintly offset, bookseller's sticker at foot of copyright page, outer leaves and edges slightly foxed; A. S. Barnes and Company, New York, 1952. First edition. Most Valuable Player series. Smith 10560. *Signed by Berra on the title page. Lawrence Peter 'Yogi' Berra (1925-2015) played 19 seasons in Major League Baseball, winning 10 World Series championships as a player - more than any other player in MLB history. He won the American League Most Valuable Player Award three times and is regarded as one of the greatest catchers in the history of the game. Berra was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1972.
