The story of a Pole, serving in the Polish Army at the outbreak of hostilities in 1939 who finds his division shattered. He escapes to Lithuania, only to be there when it is invaded by the Russians. He falls into the hands of the NKVD, and sent to a series of prison camps. The book tells of his experiences there, and his eventual escape to the west.; 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall .
