Frederick A Stokes Company, nd [1896] 1896. 1st Thus. Hardcover. NF. 1st Thus. 14.5 x 20.7 cm green cloth with gilt stamped decoration and titles to the front and spine. Top edge gilt other edges uncut xii 188pp with 17 full page black and white illustrations and red and black decorative title page plus numerous black and white illustrations within the text. A lovely copy with just a hint of rubbing to the spine tips and corners. Internally clean and bright with just a light pencil note from a previous owner on the front pastedown and a touch of toning to the uncut edges. A lovely copy of the first book in which Rackham was named as the Illustrator and where he was able to use his original fantastical illustrations.
