This historical fantasy and romance is attributed to a Potawatomi Sachem. Frank Chandler was a Vermonter who thrived variously in Chicago, including as a mortgage banker, and the Chicago representave for Hetty H. R. Green, the Witch of Wall Street. The historical part here includes a section on and a photograph of Harry Gordon Selfridge. Chapter 7 is a proposed photo drama, "Hetty Green", which includes a full-page photo of Hetty Green. This copy given by the author to the Library of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution and bear its designer bookplate, so a very nice historical associaton. An entertaining and humorous look at the history of Chicago, including a look to the future. Includes numerous illustrations of people, places and things. In the original black leather binding with red gilt leather title labels. With foldout map, which is bright, clean and whole, with a few small gently closed tears at folds expertly repaired with archival tissue on back, and barely visible thereon. Text is clean, bright and unmarked; covers are well preserved, clean and bright, with mild edge rubbing and spine label somewhat edgeworn but titles are bright on both cover labels. Scarce Chicagoana.

Fisher and signed by the author, 137 pages, his work has humorous look at the area before its settlement and displacement of native Americans. It moves to his view of what might come in the future. Page 124 has this architect's dream which was drawn by Hugh M.G. Garden, of course, his estimate of value in 1924 of over $2 billion dollars was considered a sum beyond the imagination of even the greatest dreamers of a greater Chicago.Bound in dark brown flexible leather, red morocco cover and spine labels gilt bottom corners lightly bumped a few scratches to spine labels. A very nice copy.
