Very good in clean pink cloth, pages crisp; in a very good, price clipped dust jacket, tanned to spine. Ownership inscription of Mary Eyre Wallis, October 1944, "from Teener". This book comes from the collection of the scientist and pioneer birth-control campaigner Marie Stopes (1880-1958) which was inherited by her son the philosopher Harry Stopes Roe (1924-2014) and sold following the death of his widow Mary Stopes Roe in May of this year. Mary was herself an academic and author, the daughter of the engineer and inventor of the bouncing bomb, Sir Barnes Wallis. 1942
