Quarter gilt-decorated forrel (see below) and decorated papered boards; spines a little discoloured; boards a little marked and rubbed; a very good set in the slipcase a little bumped, rubbed and slightly worn (exposing the boards at the opening). Rendered into English from the literal and complete French translation of Dr J.C. Mardrus by Powys Mathers. This set lacks the publisher's leaflet explaining the material used in the binding; a 'bookbinders' parchment known as forrel. It is a natural material made from animal skin and therefore varies in grain, colour and thickness'. [4 items].

This Folio Society Edition of a Four Volume Set of ' The Book of the Thousand Nights and One Night', is rendered into the English from the literal and complete French translations of D.J. Mardrus by Powys Mathers, and illustrated by Eric Fraser The boards are decorated in a red and gold pattern and the spines which are in cream with gold lettering and decoration shows light rubbing, and the head of the spine on volume IV has a small black mark. The slipcase is decorated in a dark grey marbled effect paper and is square and tight. Book price includes 2nd class postage in UK only. This book are photographed as proof against in-transit damage. .
