A crisp copy with irregular sunning to the front cover and a publisher's error that has duplicated the last section of the book--pages 41-54, [2]. One of the early works by this Pulitzer winning poet; all the more uncommon as it is signed by Wright on the half title.

Slight rubbing to the boards, and a trifle foxed on the foredge, still just about fine in a very lightly rubbed, near fine dustwrapper. One of 400 hardcover copies of a total edition of 1000, of which 50 were numbered and signed by the author. Although this copy is unnumbered it bears a warm and long Inscription from Wright in the year of publication, to another poet and close personal friend, about poetry and creating poems.

Roslindale, Massachusetts: Pym-Randall Press, 1982. Softcover. Good. Uncorrected Proof. Folded and gathered photocopied sheets, staple bound into a mockup of the dustwrapper. The pages have been stapled together, the staples exhibiting oxidation, some staining to the jacket, overall a sound, good copy. On the title page, Wright has handwritten three epigraphs, from Einstein, Bliss Carmen, and another we cannot quite make out, but it might be Al Capone. Laid in is a two-page photocopied long galley of the front matter of the book (contents, acknowledgements, etc.), on the back of which Wright has written a letter, well before publication to another poet and close personal friend: "12 February 1982. Jim, I thought you might like to see this: the first page proofs of my book." Wright goes on to speak about their last visit together, and concludes with a drawing that we are at a loss to describe. A possibly unique construction of Wright's first important collection, with a nice association.
