The award was presented to the University of Pittsburgh's Tony Dorsett, chosen as the outstanding college football player in the United States for 1976. This program has 90 pages, and includes several excellent articles - on Dorsett, on John W. Heisman; how the Heisman candidates finished in the balloting over the years (top 14 places, 1935-1975), a photo gallery of all the previous winners, etc. Bound in the original full color pictorial wraps, with a photo of Tony Dorsett on the front cover. The award was presented to Texas Longhorn Earl Campbell, chosen as the outstanding college football player in the United States for 1977. Unlike previous DAC Heisman Award Programs, this issue maintained the suspense of who would ultimately win. The winner was not announced until a live CBS television telecast of the presentation on December 8th, 1977. This issue includes an unused ballot (No. 1400) intended to designate the voter's preference for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd choices for the Heisman, plus 6 other DAC awards for best players at various positions.
