1914. Very good condition. The Imperial Trans-Antarctic expedition of 1914-1917 is considered to be the last major expedition of the Heroic Age of Antarctic Exploration. Conceived by Sir Ernest Shackleton, the expedition was an attempt to make the first land crossing of the Antarctic continent. 1930. Very good condition. Captain Sir Hubert Wilkins was the Australian polar explorer known for his attempt to navigate a submarine under the Arctic in 1931 as part of the Nautilus expedition. This card was clearly part of his attempts to gain public support and possible financing for the expedition. Cream card, 5 1/2 x 3 1/4", black text with The Explorer Club seal, left edge rubbed, one corner slt creased.
