A handsome copy to boot of the 1954 specially bound and numbered edition. #73 of 125 copies so designated on the limitation page and bound in 1/4 red morocco over marbled boards. Solid and clean and VG+. Internally immaculate and just the sightest hint of light fraying at the outer hinges. Quarto, 218 pgs. A very presentable copy and scarce as such. Signed by Author.

Cambridge, MA: The MiT Press, 1987. Decorative Cloth. Collectible; Fine/Fine. A Review Copy of the 1987 1st American edition, with the MIT Review Card laid-in. Tight and Near Fine in a bright, Near Fine dustjacket. Quarto, 143 pgs. Handsome monograph on the formidable Bruno Munari.

1929. 1/2 Vellum. Very Good. The 1929 catalogue of the historic exhibition (held to benefit the Royal Northern Hospital) of "possibly the finest and most representative collection of Old English Silver that the public has ever had an opportunity to behold." With the full participation of the Queen and the Royal family, the exhibition included pieces of plate "now for the first time on public view". The catalogue is bound in a sumptuous half-vellum over light-blue cloth, with bright gilt-titling along the front panel and spine. Mild soiling to the vellum, light spotting at the rear panel's blue cloth. Internally, clean as could be, with no writing or markings to speak of. A tight, solid, firmly VG copy. Tall quarto, top-edge gilt, deckled fore and bottom-edges. 81 crisp black-and-white plates follow an itemized accounting of all those who made loans to the exhibition.

Japan: Benrido Company, Ltd, 1964. Collectible; Very Good. The 1964 1st American paperback edition. Clean and VG+ in its decorative wrappers. Quarto, 93 pgs.Crisp black-and-white plates thruout.

Havana. Original Wraps. Collectible; Very Good. Wonderful Cuban magazine (issued monthly) devoted to the Arts and to sophisiticated, luxurious living. 3 issues (April 1921, April-May 1923) bound together in quarto cloth boards. The contents of each issue are clean and well-preserved, the pages bright white. Lavishly illustrated, with tasteful, artistic ads thruout, offering a glimpse of upper class living in the Havana of the early 30s. The duotone cloth boards (with bright gilt-lettering at the spine) show wear and abrading but, more importantly, have protected the magazines within. A nice piece of early Cuban cultural history, when money --even in the heights of the Great Depression-- seemed to be flowing in from everywhere.

A very handsome copy to boot of the 1988 1st English language edition, translated from its original Portuguese by Ana Madeira. Clean and Near Fine in a bright, Near Fine dustjacket. Tall quarto, 264 pgs. Lovely, crisp color plates --with generous captions-- thruout. Signed by Author.

Easton, PA: The Chemical Publishing Company, 1902. Cloth. Collectible; Very Good. The Collected Writings, Vol. I, 1902. The 1st American edition, translated by the members of the American Ceramics Society. Researches into clays and kaolins and the fabrication of tile and porcelain products. Vg in its green cloth, with light abrading along the spine. Thick octavo, 551 pgs. Tearing along the rear inner hinge, which is still very sturdy though.

New York and Tokyo: Weatherhill Press, 1971. Collectible; Fine/Fine. The 1971 stated 1st edition, INSCRIBED BY RAYMOND BUSHELL on the half-title. A very sharp copy to boot: Bright and Near Fine in its original wraparound band (obi) AND its clear, mylar dustjacket. Quarto, 199 pgs. Also includes a handsome, VG+ example of the publisher's pictorial, cardboard slipcase. Signed by Author.

Solid and VG in its dark green cloth and in a bright, clean, VG dustjacket, with very light chipping along the panel top-edges. Tall quarto, 304 crisp black-and-white illustrations. Former owner bookplate at front free endpaper, otherwise clean as could be. Vol. VI (complete onto itself) in Julius Hoffmann's "Bauformen-Bibliothek" series.

London: A. Brown and Sons, Limited, 1915. Cloth. Very Good +. A handsome, tight copy of the 1915 1st edition. Solid and VG+ in its light-brown cloth, with bright gilt-design and titling along the front panel and spine. Light bumping to the upper tips, just a touch of very mild darkening along the front hinge. Tall quarto, beautiful color frontispiece. Top-edge gilt, deckled fore and bottom-edges.

New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1928. Cloth. Very Good/Very Good. Albert H. Sonn. The 1928 1st edition of one of the great examinations of early American wrought iron. Complete in 3 volumes and including the fragile, very uncommon dustjackets. Each volume tight and Near Fine, with no writing or markings of any kind internally. And each in a crisp, price-intact, VG- to VG dustjacket, with varying amounts of light, forgiveable chipping along the panel edges and the spine ends. A bit of light soiling and spotting as well to the front and rear panels in addition to several small closed tears, Still though very presentable and uncommon as such, in the original dustjackets. Tall, uniform quartos, "with three hundred and twenty plates from drawings by the author". And finally, a nice piece of laid-in ephemera accompanies this copy, a charming 1 pg. Newe York: Norman W. Henley & Co, 1893. Decorative Cloth. Collectible; Fine. A very handsome copy of the 1893 stated 2nd edition. Clean and Near Fine in its navy-blue cloth, with bright silver-lettering and design at the front panel. Light offsetting at the front free endpaper and pastedowns, otherwise clean as could be. 12mo, 140 pgs. plus wonderful local ads.

London: Ernest Benn Ltd, 1927. Cloth. Very Good/Very Good. The 1927 1st English language editon, including its uncommon pictorial dustjacket. Over 300 crisp black-and-white plates, demonstrating the incredible complexity of the highest levels of decorative iron work. Solid and VG (light spotting at the panels and edges) in a bright, VG dustjacket, with very light fraying and rubbing along the spine and its ends, very light creasing and chipping to the panel edges and mild soiling at the rear panel. Tall quarto, with an "historical Introduction by Otto Hoever". The periods examined are Gothic, Late Gothic and Renaissance, and Baroque and Classical.

London: The Curwen Press, 1957. Full leather. Near Fine. A gorgeous example of George How's landmark 3-volume examination of English and Scottish silver spoons and pre-Elizabethan hall-marks on English plate. All 3 folio volumes beautifully bound in a custom, full red morocco by Sangorski and Sutcliffe of London. (The foot of each front pastedown also bears the Sangorski & Sutcliffe stamp). 5 raised bands to each volume, fine gilt-bordering and titling within the compartments. Internally, clean as could be as well, with no writing or markings of any kind. The set is easily in Near Fine condition and, save for just a touch of light offsetting along one rear panel top-edge, would legitimatley be approaching Fine. Dozens and dozens of gravure plates complement How's deeply-informative text. A true collector's copy, certainly worthy of an institutional holding.
