Tight and VG in its navy-blue cloth, with bright gilt-titling at the front panel and spine. Light wear to the spine ends, light scuffing along the spine. Otherwise very sharp and, internally, clean as could be, with no writing or markings of any kind. Thick octavo, 225 illustrations, including remarkable black-and-white "spirit" photographs, among others. Important early work in mediumship and telepathy.

Boston: Jos. M. Wade, 1896. 1st. Original Wraps. Collectible; Very Good. The 1896 1st edition of this very uncommon, posthumously-published treatise by Madame Blavatsky on spirit-writing. "Dictated from the spirit world, upon the typewriter, independent of all human contact, under the supervision of G.W.N. Vost, to bring to light the things of truth, and affirm the continuity of life and the eternal activity of the soul immortal". And also on the title page: "Given to my Astral friend and associate Jos. M. Wade --H.P.B." A bright, solid example of a fragile publication. VG- in its pictorial wrappers, with light soiling to the panels and light chipping and creasing along the top-edges and at the spine crown. Still though, a sturdy, very presentable octavo. Scarce (not listed in Besterman, Price or Bibliotheca Esoterica).

The very uncommon 1842 1st edition of this original publication of "two curious documents concerning Dr. John Dee", the great 16th century occut philosopher (1527-1609) who devoted much of his life to the study of alchemy, divination and Hermetic philosophy. 1) "His Private Diary, written in a very small illegible hand on the margins of old Almamacs, discovered a few years ago by Mr. W.H. Black, in the library of the Ashmolean Museum at Oxford". 2) "A Catalogue of his Library of Manuscripts, made by himself before his house was plundered by the populace, and now preserved in the library of Trinity College, Cambridge". This 1842 volume, a slim octavo in its original chocolate-brown boards, has held up very nicely. Solid and VG+, with decorative blindstamping to the panels and still-bright gilt-titling and flourishes along the spine. THE AUSTRALIAN EDITION IS INSCRIBED BY R.H. HORNE on the title page. Both copies are solid and VG in their original wrappers, with light chipping along the panel edges of the Scottish edition and light soiling to the rear panel of the Australian edition. Octavos, verse thruout. Also includes custom-made dark-green chemise (with bookplate of author John Drinkwater) and matching slipcase, with bright gilt-titling at the spine.
