The 1923 1st edition of this beautifully-illustrated catalogue of Balief's Chauve-Souris of Moscow. Crisp and VG+ in its stapled, Sergei Soudeikine-illustrated wrappers, with just a touch of light pencil and soilig to the rear panel. Tall quarto (magazine-formatted), also includes as a wonderful centerfold caricature of New York's glitterati of the early '20s by Ralph Barton.

A solid, well-preserved copy to boot of the 1908 1st edition. Tight and VG in its green cloth, with bright gilt-flourishes, lettering and pastedown to the front panel and light fading --and a touch of wear-- along the spine. Octavo, 142 pgs. Signed by Author.

London: Encore Publishing Co, 1959. Original wraps. Good +. SIGNED BY HAROLD PINTER on the title page. A solid copy to boot of the playwright's very first published work. Bright and Good+ in its fragile pictorial wrappers, with creasing and light chipping along the spine --and at the panel edges-- and very light staining and a bit of ink to the rear panel. Still though, quite presentable and, as the Nobelist's first play to appear on the London stage, very significant as such.

New York: Oxford University Press, 1986. Cloth. Collectible; Fine/Very Good. Exhaustive, scholarly look at the British musical theatre 1865-1984, complete in 2 volumes. Both volumes clean and Near Fine in bright, VG+ to Near Fine dustjackets. Thick octavos, 2,454 pgs. all told.

Over 60 some signatures, all next to their acompanying photographs. INCLUDING AL HIRSCHFELD, KEVIN SPACEY, ELLEN BURSTYN, PATTI LU PONE, UTA HAGEN, STOCKARD CHANNING, JUDD HIRSCH, HARVEY FIERSTEIN, GREGORY HINES, JASON ROBARDS, JEROME ROBBINS, LUCIE ARNAZ, LIZA MINELLI, HAL PRINCE, JOEL GREY AND ON AND ON. This 1992 1st edition has held up very nicely as well. Clean and Near Fine in a bright, Near Fine dustjacket. Square quarto, 288 pgs. A wonderful example of one autograph hound's incredible perseverance.

Book and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner, music by Frederick Loewe.

New York: New American Library, 1986. 1st. Cloth. Collectible; Fine/Fine. An amazing selection of 40 some autographs accompany this 1986 stated 1st edition. Almost all the signatures appear opposite the photographs of the actors and include, CHRISTOPHER REEVE, KEVIN BACON, KEVIN KLINE, JOHN LITHGOW, JOHN TURTURRO, WILLIAM HURT, WILLEM DAFOE, SPALDING GRAY, MORGAN FREEMAN, CHRISTOPHER WALKEN, JOHN MALKOVICH, etc. The book itself has held up very nicely as well. Clean and Near Fine in a bright, price-intact, Near Fine dustjacket. Quarto, 304 pgs. Photographs by Susan Shacter, Interviews by Don Shewey. A Review copy to boot, with the NAL Review slip laid-in.

New York: Original poster. Scarce poster announcing the theatrical premiere of Ginsberg's Kaddish at the Circle-in-the Square on Bleecker St. in NYC's West Village. Circa 1967. Handsomely framed in a simple black. 14 1/2" x 22". Clean and unblemished and Near Fine, with no creasing or soiling to speak of. Bright lettering and dreamy pictorial of a young Ginsberg and companion. An uncommon Ginsberg item.

London: John Hughs for Robert Dodsley, 1738. Cloth. Very Good +. The 1st edition of John Dalton's adaptation of Milton's masque Comus. The original version, an important early work, was only performed once in Milton's lifetime. The music, as is noted on the title page, was the work of the baroque composer Henry Lawes (1595-1622), who also performed in the masque. The text was published anonymously in 1637; Milton then included it in his "Poems" of 1645 & 1673. Octavo, Roman and italic types. Woodcut initial cartouches, headpieces and culs-de-lampe. The two errata, on pg. 16 & 22, corrected in manuscript. Modern brown cloth, spine lettered in gilt, early green paper wrappers (which are titled in ink) bound in. Provenance: Wynne Edwin Baxter (1844-1920; English lawyer, antiquarian and botanist; noted coroner --he conducted the inquests into the deaths of many of the victims in the Whitechapel murders of 1888-1891; noted collector of Milton; bookplate on front pastedown).

Japan, 1951. Original Wraps. Collectible; Very Good. The uncommon 1951 Japanese photoplay/screenplay of Columbia Pictures's version of Arthur Miller's "Death of a Salsman", which starred Fredric March as Willy Loman. Clean and well-preserved and VG+ in its pictorial wrappers. Grainy stills of the film punctuate the script, which is in both English and Japanese. Octavo, 97 pgs. A bleak tale broght to the even bleaker landscape of post-War Japan.

A solid copy to boot of the stated 1959 1st American edition. Tight and VG+ (just a bit of foxing at the endsheets and pastedowns) in a bright, price-intact, VG dustjacjket, with spotting along th flaps and very light creasing and chipping along the panel edges. Still though, a very presentable copy of this, "the thrid of Mr. Eliot's plays to have been produced with great success at the Edinburgh Festival before opening in London."
