A very sharp copy of the March 14, 1929 second printing before publication (actually preceding the March 25th 1st printing by 11 days). IN A NICE EXAMPLE OF THE UNCOMMON ORIGINAL DUSTJACKET. Clean and Near Fine (with bright, completely unflecked gilt-lettering at the front panel and spine) in a crisp, price-clipped, VG+ dustjacket, with very light creasing and chipping along the panel top-edges and light soiling to the rear panel. Thick octavo, 407 pgs., including 20 reproductions from paintings by the author himself.

Gilt-titling along the front cover and spine still bright. Internally clean, with all 10 maps and 24 plans crisp and bright. 16mo, the first Baedeker title published originally in English. Large fold-out map of The States (which shows one small tear) at the rear pastedown.

A very sharp copy to boot of this 1931 privately printed travelogue of a year-long (1927) trip through Africa. Clean and Near Fine in its wonderful Deco-designed covers. Also includes the original card slipcase, which shows wear and a bit of soiling.

Tight and VG in its chocolate-brown cloth, with very light foxing and soiling to the interior. Decorative blindstamping at the panels and bright gilt-lettering along the spine. Thick 12mo, 299 pgs. Edited by C.C. Felton.

London: The Curwen Press, 1931. 1st. Original Wraps. Collectible; Fine. Lovely 1931 travel booklet, issued by The London and Northeastern Railway and wonderfully illustrated in rich color (and black-and-white) by the great graphic artist Edward Bawden. A clean, very well-preserved copy to boot: Crisp and Near Fine in its stapled orange wrappers, with just the slightest hint of age-toning along the spine. Octavo, beautifully designed and published out of London by Curwen Press.

And in a bright, VG dustjacket, with light soiling to the rear panel and light wear along the spine crown. 12mo, 219 pgs., crisp black-and-white plates thruout.

Bradbury and Evans, London, 1855. 1st. Hardcover. 1855 1st edition. A VG, well-preserved copy in its original blue cloth boards. Versos blank, rectos containing india-paper guards protecting wonderful line illustrations with captions. Essentially an early example of the graphic novel. Tall quarto, gilt- decorated cover and gilt edges. A handsome item.

United Fruit Company (Steamship Service), 1932. Decorative Wrappers. Very Good +. Uncommon 1932 booklet by the United Fruit Company, showcasing its Golden Cruises and West Indies cruises. Crisp and VG+ in its stapled wrappers, with its wonderful Art Deco cover. Light offsetting at the front panel, otherwise very clean. "Great White Fleet: To Cuba -- Jamaica -- Panama-- Costa Rica-- Colombia -- Guatemala -- Honduras"

Moscow: Co-Operative Publishing Society of Foreign Workers in the U.S.S.R., 1937. Cloth. Very Good +. Uncommon 1937 Moscow travel guide, with very impressive plates and fold-out maps thruout. Solid and VG+ in its oatmeal cloth, with very light rubbing to the panels. Issued by the State-sponsored Co-Operative Publishing Society of Foreign Workers, this was clearly a proud undertaking where very little expense was spared. 1 of the 6 large fold-out maps ("Moscow-Volga Canal") is missing but all else is completely intact. The color plates (largely of food delicacies) toward the rear are crisp and especially striking. 12mo, part of the "In the Land of the Soviets" series from the 30s.

Montreal: J. McConniff, 1891. 1st. Decorative Cloth. Collectible; Very Good. Wonderful late 19th century souvenir album of Toronto, with crisp black-and-white photos (and etchings) thruout complementing the text. Solid and VG in its pasted pictorial boards over russet cloth. Light soiling to the cloth, very light staining at the foot of the last 10 or so pages (not affecting the text or plates). Oblong octavo, 64 pgs.

London: Jonathan Cape, 1977. 1st. Cloth. Collectible; Fine/Fine. A lovely, pristine copy of the 1977 1st edition of Bruce Chatwin's first published book. Tight and Fine in a bright, price-intact, Fine dustjacket. Octavo, 204 pgs.

Indianapolis: Bobbs-Merrill, 1928. 1st. Cloth. Collectible; Very Good/Very Good. A solid copy of the 1928 stated 1st edition. VG in a bright, price-intact, VG dustjacket, with light soiling along the spine and rear panel. 12mo, 309 pgs.

Paris: R. Lebrasseur, 1850. Decorative Boards. Very Good. A lovely mid 19th century color plate book, with 22 chromolithographs plus title page. Oblong octavo, navy-blue boards, with decorative blindstamping and brigh gilt-titling ("Voyage de Paris a Versailles") at the front panel. The 1850 1st edition, published by R. Lebrasseur of Paris, the lithography executed by Becquet Freres, also of Paris. A bright, very presentable copy, with light staining to the boards and offsetting at the pastedowns and the endsheets. All of the plates, save 2 or 3 (which show just a touch of spotting encroaching along their margins), are clean and very sharp.

New York: Brewer, Warren & Putnam, Inc, 1932. 1st. Cloth. Collectible; Very Good/Very Good. 1932 1st edition, IN ITS UNCOMMON PICTORIAL DUSTJACKET. VG in a bright, price-intact, VG dustjacket, with light chipping along the spine ends (affecting the lettering). Octavo, 447 pgs.

Indianapolis: The Bobbs-Merrill Company, 1931. Cloth. Very Good +/Very Good +. Robert Lee Eskridge. A handsome copy of the 1931 stated 1st edition. Tight and VG+ to Near Fine in its navy-blue cloth, with one small, neat inscription at the verso of the front free endpaper. And in a crisp, price-intact, easily VG+ dustjaket, with light scuffing along the rear panel's fore-edge and several tiny closed tears at the panel edges. Still though, appealing and very presentable. And nicely illustrated throughout by Robert Lee Eskridge himself, the renowned American genre painter, muralist and illustrator (1891-1975).
