With 2 large folding maps of the United States (loose- pocket has come apart at the rear); both 80.8 by 52.5 cm including margins- map of the progress of topographical surveys and locations of gaging stations (bright- no tears) and map of progress of astronomical location, primary triangulation and traverse & precise levelling (the map is bright- it has toning down one fold which is neatly strengthened down that fold with low visibility clear archival tissue on the reverse). Possible connection to H. G. Wells., comes with a letter from the previous owner outlining a possible connection, with inscriptions and markings on the front endpapers.
