Marking and toning to the cloth, the hinges are good- overpulled internally a bit. The text is complete, some toning and light foxing to the title, the pages are toned, a few minor marks. Contains 23 sheets of line drawings by the author (incl 3 double page plans)

Original leather, the hinges are in pretty good order, leather chipped at the top rear edge of the spine, leather cracking at the top half of the spine edges. The text is complete, the front endpaper a bit loose, fairly tidy internally, light toning and marking, toning to the title, marking and browning to the endpapers, some 18th century inscriptions on the front endpaper. In dictionary format A-L. Includes; 4 1/2 pages on the Greenland fishery. 8 1/2 pages on fish and fishing. A 9 page list of custom rates on every article imaginable. 19 pages on coffee, tea, chocolate and cocoa paste. 27 pages on liquor.

The covers are tidy, light marking, light marking to the pages. 16 pages. 'Presented by the University of Edinburgh' label on the inside of the front cover- to 'The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland'- their (late Victorian/Edwardian) oval stamp on the title page (no other markings).

Contains 15 sheets of plates (complete as per list- 8 colour and 7 black and white). Olive coloured cloth bindings, with Spalding club crest on the front covers. Volume 2 neatly rebacked with the original cloth overlaid. The gilt has faded and rubbed off from volume 1 spine, vol 2 spine a bit faded, covers pretty nice looking looking- slight faded. The text is complete, foxing to volume 1 endpapers, a few marks to volume 1 title, some toning and marking in places, one plate in vol 2 with some marks, the first 2 colour plates in vol 2 with black ink notes at the side of the shields (regarding their history).
