Includes "Hub Fans Bid Kid Adieu", on Ted Williams. 8vo, yellow cloth with usual Knopf gilt lettering, top edge tinted brown, unusually heavy foxing to boards, soil to their exposed edges, only faint foxing to text-block edges, minimal shelf wear, in unclipped, age-toned DJ with 1" tear in front panel at top, raggedy along crown, normal shelf wear to bottom, light foxing to interior. "Good" rating is a compromise between the foxed boards and the mostly clean pages - only one margin bracket in pencil observed, and a tiny pencil note on rfep.

Second printing. 1963 remark by Bergman in the front matter: "The theme of these three films is a 'reduction' - in the metaphysical sense of that word. Through a Glass Darkly - certainty achieved. The Communicants - certainty unmasked. The Silence - God's silence - the negative impression." Trade paperback, creases to spine, light shelf wear, light soil and minor creases to wraps, edges age-toned, pale foxing to plates and to some pages, especially those facing the plates. Handwritten check mark in the margin of one page, no other writing observed.
