Description:
New York: Frederick A. Stokes, 1940. Hardcover. Near Fine/Very Good. First edition. A little soiling to the boards, else near fine in a bit edgeworn, about very good dustwrapper with a number of small chips and tears. Inscribed by both authors to opera diva Geraldine Farrar: "To our Star Umpire Geraldine Farrar! Lowell Thomas" and "Who's a humorist? Ted Shane" (Shane is referred to thusly in the picture captions). Heavily illustrated account of the facetious adventures of a quasi-celebrity softball team, The Nine Old Men, with a frontispiece photo of Babe Ruth taking a mighty swat at a softball. Softball books are uncommon.
