Washington, D.C: Chronicle Publishing Company, 1874. First Edition. Hardcover. Fair. 16mo 6" - 7" tall. A perfectly serviceable reference copy; nothing fancy, but complete and sturdy. Dark blue embossed cloth decorated with gilt lettering and trim, with fraying and rubbing to spine ends and edges. Forward cock to spine. Remnant of institution bookplate to inside flap, previous owner's inscription at first free endpaper, but no other stampings; some underlining mainly first chapter only with some age-toning and smudging to text. Foote was a lawyer and Senator from Mississippi who helped pass the Compromise of 1850. Comprised of the memoirs of a lawyer, chiefly of dealings with important legal and political figures from the 1820s to 1860. 498 pp.Member, I.O.B.A., C.B.A., and adherent to the highest ethical standards.
