Pamphlet. 51p, 5.5 x 9 inches, wraps, text block in very good condition, spine covering largely worn away but hand-sewn signatures intact, covers worn and corners bent. J.G. Forman (1820-1885) "minister of the Second Congregational Church in Nantucket, until recently minister of the First Church and Congregation in West Bridgewater, Mass., to which is added, a friendly letter to said church and congregation on the pro-slavery influences that occasioned his removal." He apparently preached in opposition to the 1850 Fugitive Slave Law.

Two years of the monthly journal, 378, 378p., bound in one volume, leather boards separated, top of spine very extensively chipped, much edgewear, last page taped with yellowed cellotape to rear board; text is all present but a reference copy only, possible candidate for rebinding. Perhaps the most important Welsh-language political journal of its time. This run includes an article critical of slavery in the southern US.

This is a good reading copy.
