Announces demonstrations outside Indian and Soviet embassies and offices in New York, Washington DC, San Francisco, and Ottawa. "August 15 is the day when the Indian ruling classes in India and their agents abroad, in concert with US imperialism and Soviet social-imperialism, celebrate with fanfare their sham 'independence' and 'democracy.' But the year 1975, which witnessed earth-shaking victories for the peoples of Cambodia and Vietnam and ignominious defeat for U.S. imperialism also fully exposed the fraud of Indian 'democracy' and its subservience to the hegemonistic schemes of Soviet social-imperialism....

With a foreword by Tom Driberg, M.P. "The story of the suppression of the People's Constitutional Government of British Guiana" - Cover blurb. Jagan was the former Prime Minister and a leader of the Guyanese left.

The Friends of Freedom for India was a pro-independence organization established in 1919 with Robert Morss Lovett as temporary president, the Irish-American lawyers Dudley Field Malone and Frank P. Walsh as vice presidents, Agnes Smedley as secretary, and Louis P. Lochner as treasurer. The editorial committee was chaired by Surendra Karr and included Margaret Sanger. The Board included Roger Nash Baldwin, Norman Thomas, and Judah Magnes, among others. This leaflet lists officers on the front panel. The interior text is titled "British Inquisition in India" (with different contents from Surendra Karr's essay of this title published in the June 28, 1919 issue of the Nation). Presented to the conference "India in America: The Immigrant Experience." Daniels was a Professor of History at the University of Cincinnati who specialized in Asian American History, and had a particular research interest in Japanese American Incarceration during World War II.

New York: India League of America, 1940. Pamphlet. [14p.] staplebound pamphlet, mild toning, otherwise very good. Reprinted from the April 1940 issue of The Atlantic. The India League of America, not to be confused with the later organization of the same name, was organized in 1937 to agitate within the US for Indian independence. Its president was Sirdar J.J. Singh; honorary presidents included Lin Yutang and Pearl S. Buck.

New York: Red Dust, 1992. Paperback. 32p. paperback, 5.5x8.25 inches, very good. Alexander was born in Allahabad, India and raised in Kerala and Sudan. She received her PhD from Nottingham University and later moved to New York City, where she taught English at the Graduate Center/Hunter College until her passing in 2018. Alexander was the recipient of numerous awards, and The Statesman called her "undoubtedly one of the finest poets of contemporary times.
