n.p.: Self-published by the author, 2018. Pamphlet. Unpaginated, about thirty pages, b&w comix panels throughout, zine format in 8.5x5.5 inch stapled wraps. Rear cover has an inch-long sticker scar with a little remnant flap, the sole flaw we see, serious or trivial; all in all a very good copy. Plot, young man on a construction crew digs holes for unspecified purpose, one such hole contacts a burial site (or possibly Hell) and a "living skeleton" attempts to abduct him but gets smashed with the digger's shovel.

Washington DC: GPO, 1909. Pamphlet. 11p., illustrated with modern diagrammatic depictions and one interesting old woodcut. Softbound, a stapled pamphlet in 9x6 inch plain printed tomato-bisque wraps, an oddly attractive item in nearly-new condition. Tincture of opium, to be used in combination with lime-water and linseed oil, must have been easier to obtain in 1909.

New York: The Tucker Publishing Co, 1900. 13p., stapled wraps, 5.5x7.75 inches, vertically creased, spine and right edge of both wraps covered with clear non-archival tape, first and last pages evenly toned, bottom edge closely trimmed with series statement on front wrap cut off but no other loss of text, "#11" penned on front wrap. Balzac Library, no. 11, March 14, 1900. On the cultural change in attitude towards death. Originally printed in the "Fortnightly Review." The short-lived Balzac Library series represented Benjamin R. Tucker's interest in disseminating contemporary European avant-garde and progressive thought to an audience beyond that of Liberty.

Cambridge: Published by the Hakluyt Society at the CUP, 1968. Hardcover. x, 170p., illustrations and plentiful maps, hardbound in Hakluyt's signature blue cloth boards gilt & blind and enclosed in the dust jacket. A handsome book in perfectly sound, clean and unmarked condition. The dust jacket has a mildly toned spine panel and a touch of top edge wear: very good copy. Laid in is a Society pamphlet with 1) text of talk by Boxer on this selection, and 2) annual report and accounts for 1978 [sic, not '68]. Second series no. CXXXII.

Berlin: Cassirer, 1916. 72p., slender hardcover, 23rd printing, spine ends worn. text in German. "Songs from the Gallows," by the theosophist poet.

Colorado Springs: [family memento], 1908. [10]p. letterpress on mould-made paper, die-cut photograph (from negative) laid down on titlepage, textured titled 8x5 inch wraps sewn with decorative cord. Slight foxing, dust-soil and edge-wear, a very good copy. Memorial to a promising fellow dead of unknown causes on a visit to Salt Lake City.

n.pl: Wojtek Edizioni, 2019. Paperback. 63p., 5x7.25 inch wraps; corners slightly bumped, else very good. Queer author, performer, and painter based out of San Francisco. In this mythical novel, a woman embarks on unknowingly on journey to the afterlife.

[Place of publication not identified]: [publisher not identified], 1897. Handbill. 1 sheet. 9 x 4.5 in. Spotting; single horizontal fold. Good. Single sheet with a mourning poem written by the deceased's mother. The Klings resided in Schoharie, NY.

Berkeley: Dharma Foundation, 1990. Newspaper. 32p., folded tabloid, lightly toned, illus., mailing label on lower front cover, else very good. Includes: Interview with Stephen Levine, a Tibetan View of Death, Death Awareness Practice, directory of sitting groups, 1990 Vipassana retreat schedules, etc.

San Francisco: Self-published by the author, 2007. Magazine. 47p., 5.5x8.5 inches, stories, illustrations, wraps lightly worn, staples rusted, else very good digest-size zine in stapled white pictorial wraps. Excerpts of Marr's writing from other publications, plus a reprint of the story on death at Disneyland from Murder Can Be Fun #13.

London: Pioneer Press, 1922. Paperback. 158p., 4.75x7 inches, sewn paperback, soiled and edgeworn wraps, a smattering of foxing throughout the book, spine wrap a little loose at head and tail, a decent reading copy. The prominent British secularist and proponent of atheism and freethought takes on the belief in life after death, with special attention to Spiritualism.

New York: Boullion-Biggs, 1923. Hardcover. 68p., green cloth boards with titling in gilt, in very good condition. The reveries of dead animals.

Canaan VT [printed] / Post Falls ID [cancel]: Mora Press, 1983. Hardcover. 204p., legible presswork, if not quite professional layout, hardbound in 8.5x5.5 inch light brown cloth boards titled black, inscribed and signed by Overlee on the front pastedown. Opposite the inscription find a bleached-out label, and (fore and aft in the text) a small neat rubberstamp address that cancels the Vermont one. Item is all-in-all quite good: sound, clean, and otherwise unmarked. Henry Drummond contributes much text from the afterlife. Overlee pays particular attention to Martin Luther King Jr. with a post-assassination resume (limited to a single page, no quotations), and has been in contact with a number of other personalities we have heard of such as Rudolph Valentino, certain members of European royalty, plus sketch-portraits of Asian and Mid-Eastern adepts we know nothing of.

San Jose, CA: Excelsior Press, 1946. Pamphlet. 64p., wraps. 8.25 x 5.25 in. Edges of front wrapper chipped. Good. Religious fiction inspired by the death in childhood of the author's son. Tells the story of a young boy's near-death experience and visit to heaven where he sees marvelous things, visits ancestors, and talks to various people (e.g. an atomic scientist provides counsel on nuclear weapons).

Chicago: the Association, 1906. Ephemera. 13x7.5 inch certificate, including the perforated cash coupon which is still attached, very good; certifying that Otto Spruth of the La Salle lodge of Machinists has paid the dues necessary for a discount burial should he or a family member pass away in the next 20 years, with much small print. A 1906 issue of The Chicago Clinic and Pan-therapeutic Journal (vol. 19, no. 7) alleges that the Union Burial Association had a ghastly system whereby doctors supervising a patient could get a 20% kickback in exchange for notifying the Association when the patient appeared ready to give up the ghost.
