Hardcover. xi, 314p., many b&w photoillustrations on glazed inserted stock (good camerawork), frontis tissue-guarded, first American edition in thick 7.5x5 inch textured cloth boards spine- and cover-titled black. Lacks the jacket, and a line of penciling has been erased across front free endpaper (illegible). A very presentable copy in every respect but one, it is underlined (lightly) in pencil, or the first couple of chapters are, occasional brackets thereafter. Even the tissue-guard is unmolested. Memoir by an opinionated Protestant lady.

Hardbound in dark red cloth boards gilt, general mild edgewear to casing but top and tail rims are both crimped with tiny tears. Front endpapers bear ownership initials and rear a couple small stains from the red top-edge tint. An else clean and unmarked copy. The Broadway Traveller.

Hardcover. 142p., illustrated with period sketches reproduced sepia on glazed inserted stock, hardbound first edition in black cloth boards gilt and enclosed in the dust jacket. Faint mist of foxing to top edge, the only flaw we see to book itself, while the dust jacket margins are slightly worn, and just a touch of handling soil to panels. Near-fine: sound, otherwise cleanly, and unmarked.

Osaka: Buraku Liberation Research Institute, 1986. Paperback. 145p., softcover in dust jacket, 6x8.5 inches. Dust jacket lightly soiled, else very good. The Burakumin are a class of people in Japan considered to be untouchables, traditionally associated with jobs such as butchery, tannery, performing executions, and other forms of work considered to be "unclean." While this caste status was abolished after the Meiji Restoration, there continues to be discrimination against their descendants.

Kunming: Yunnan renmin chubanshe 云南人民出版社, 1985. 501p., very good hardcover in lightly worn dj; gift inscription on title page. Text in Chinese. On the culture of the Naxi people of China's southwestern region.

Richmond VIC: Hutchinson of Australia, 1973. Hardcover. 361p., illustrated with original b&w photographs and a few line maps, hardbound first edition in 9.5x6 inch raspberry cloth boards gilt and enclosed in the colorphoto dust jacket. Casing is mildly edgeworn with crimps at top and tail of backstrip, quite sound and square, clean and free of any markings, dust jacket about the same with a touch of soil, this a very good copy. Greenway is, per dust jacket flap text, "a controversial anthropologist", currently spending his spare time as a deputy sheriff in his home town of Boulder CO. He and his wife got very close to several tribes during their fifteen years in the bush.

Paperback. 503p., illustrated with numerous period views in vivid color and otherwise, site and exhibit photography, a couple line maps, a handsome big softbound that one reviewer calls "a triumph of book production". Wraps are 9.5x6.5 inch glossy color, an inch & one quarter thick, condition is as-new: entirely sound, clean and unmarked.

Chang chun: Ji lin jiao yu chu ban she, 1987. 218p., very good hard cover with lightly edgeworn dj, some uncut pages. Zhongguo shaoshu minzu wenku. Collection of articles on the historical roots and modern development of the Oroqen people, a minority group in Inner Mongolia in China. Several chapters are dedicated to the development of education and school system in the area.
