Agudo was a Filipino-American Franciscan missionary and psychotherapist at the House of Affirmation, a treatment center for "troubled" priests which was closed amid financial scandal in 1989. Co-founder Thomas A. Kane (who also wrote this book's foreword) was later accused of sexual abuse himself.
