New York: Avenel Books, 1963. Hardcover. xi, 140p., sketch illustrations (of sites in China), an inexpensive reprint of the Crown/Crowell first issue. Hardbound in 8x5.5 inch plastikoid blue boards and enclosed in the dust jacket. This copy has been used, find mild foodstain to fore edge, holograph recipe inscribed (neatly) on front pastedown, asterisk to index (for a variety of soup), a sound if slightly homely volume, with dust jacket bearing a couple of short tears, one of which reinforced verso with clear tape. A fair to good copy. Per dust jacket flap text: "the greatest classical recipes of China, many of them for the first time in English. All five major 'schools' of Chinese cooking are represented." Author Yu Wen Mei is daughter to Yu Lin Chuan, one of Old China's most renowned restauranteurs; she is translator while Adams is "a gourmet's gourmet" who has done some adapting to the American kitchen.

Rosemead, CA: the Association, 1998. Paperback. 96p., very good in wraps, 8.5x11 inches, text mostly in Chinese. Special convention publication of the Association.

Northfield MA: National Headquarters, American Youth Hostels Inc, 1938. Pamphlet. 65p., sketch illustrations with an especially large group of b&w photos of AYH activity by Fritz Goro. Small journal in pamphlet format, 7x5 inches, an excellent two-color woodcut decorates the cover; bound in, printed on acidic tinted stock, is a long (10-inch) informational strip passed thru the spinefold so protruding 5 inches on either side. This strip of unstable construction paper has offset onto adjoining leaves, and is currently split in half, along the spinefold, and now detached. A good copy: generally sound, and entirely free of soil or any markings.

Berkeley: University of California at Berkeley et al., 1990. Pamphlet. [52p] includes covers, 9x12 inches, event program, biographies and photos of the performers, ads, very good souvenir program book in stapled cream wraps with the Chinese character for Ci or 'Compassion' on cover. The event Master of Ceremonies was Laurie Anderson. Herbie Hancock, Kronos Quartet, Philip Glass, Seiichi Tanaka, Koichi Tamano and others performed, restaurants and hotels participated from all over the Bay Area.

San Francisco: Alfred's, 1963. Pamphlet. [8p] 5x6.75 inches, menue, wine-list, photos, very good tiny menue in stapled decorative wraps die-cut to feature a picture of the Bay Bridge. San Francisco menu with Filet Mignon at $5.25, cocktail & wine list.

Albuquerque: University of New Mexico Press, 1994. Paperback. xxx, 172p., illustrations from old cuts &c; softbound, 8.5x5.5 inch decorated wraps, an as-new copy: entirely sound, clean and unmarked. Mary Jane (Cole) Megquier was, according to family tradition, "the first American woman to cross the Isthmus", ran a successful boardinghouse in San Francisco, and her descriptions of her boarders (some of whom notables) and events show "a power of observation and consideration for detail

Chicago: Fair Promotional / Bismarck Hotel, 1934. Map. Single leaf of reasonably alkaline paperstock, printed in two colors (black and dark blue), folded to make an upright pocket-fitting guide (folds out to 9x20 inches), namely a line map with "keys" shown in smallpoint, verso being the Bismarck Hotel ad plus blank panels. Outermost panels are slightly toned and dusty, but nicely square with foldlines undamaged.

Baylor: the university, 1952. Magazine. 60p., magazine format with beaucoup advertisements in color and b&w, 10.5x8 inch color wraps (blond student looking up from her book at a pantheon of jocks), slight external handling soil, staples have a touch of rust (no migration), a very good copy. FYI, the cigarette ads are more flamboyant than the car ads.

Verviers: Imprimerie Ch. Vinche, 1929. Paperback. 176p., illustrated with numerous vignette-sized photos reproduced indifferently in b&w, two folded maps with onlay color helps, and a huge body of tables giving details of accommodations. Glossy alkaline paperstock throughout, softbound in 8.5x5.5 inch glossy color-decorated wraps. One signature was slightly mistrimmed at the bindery, mildly edgeworn with a front-cover corner crease, spine a little rolled, a sound clean copy unmarked by either institution or owner.

London: Galitzine, Chant, Russell & Partners Ltd, for Hedges & Butler Ltd, 1965. Hardcover. Unpaginated, a little over twenty pages long counting the numerous sketches, hardbound in textured green boards gilt, plates in sepia and b&w, a nice bright copy, sound, square, clean and unmarked. A very good to fine copy. The message: French wine is provisioned perfectly well in London, go no further; item concludes with restaurant recommendations.

Paris: Picard Audap Solanet & Associes, 1997. Unpaginated, nearly three hundred listings, scattered b&w period illustrations, presswork on coated alkaline paperstock and softbound in 10.5x8 inch saddle-stitched wraps. Covers a bit rubbed, else without any damage: a sound, clean, unmarked copy. NB, lacks a Prices realized insert.

London: Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese, 1908. Paperback. 92p., 5x7.5 inch wraps; wraps slightly creased, head and tail of spine mildly worn, slight chipping on wrapper edges, in good condition.

London: the auction house, 1996. 64p., over three hundred listings, the usual nice production from Christie's in 10.5x8.5 inch color pictorial wraps. A clean, sound, unmarked copy, unfortunately lacks the Prices realized - Buyer names insert. FYI, cooking and doctoring appear to be mixed together, with a preponderance of medical rarities.

Monaco: Printed by the Monaco Printing Office, 1910. Pamphlet. 15p., self-wraps decorated with cover photos and a third within, presswork on light alkaline stock, a tiny souvenir brochure (5.5x3.5 inches) fastened with a single staple (in good shape). Mildly edgeworn with a turned rear corner-tip, good copy of a fragile item.

Cartagena, Spain: the city, 1928. Calendar. Single 9x9 inch leaf of glazed paperstock, printed and folded to make an upright 9x4.5 inch program for the annual processions and ceremonies, text in blue ink, illustrated with a color cover (senoritas) and traditional stations-of-the-cross vignettes. Last panel advertises transportation to & from Madrid and food service. Item is edgeworn with a couple short closed tears, much crimping and handling; a good-only copy.

San Francisco: City Publishing Company, Inc./Francis Ford Coppola, 1976. Magazine. 56p. including covers, 11x13 inches, illustrations, photos, articles, mild wear, oversized weekly magazine on newsprint, good in stapled pictorial wraps. Nine SF Fanatics indulge their fantasies in SF. Odd Bodkins.

Hollywood: 20th Century-Fox, 1960. Oversized Paperback. Huge promotional booklet measuring 15x12 inches, filled with soft-focus set and production stills in color and b&w, rather edgeworn with abraded spinefold and corner-tip curling. Superficial treatment, in good (good-only) condition.
