Description:
Washington DC: Government Printing Office, 1920. Hardcover. Ex library set in near-matching blue cloth boards, textblocks nice & clean, each with a differing folded map in colors. We see no mis-folding or foldline splits to maps; the four maps and indeed the texts themselves appear not to have been checked out or even browsed. The cloth casings on the other hand are scruffy and covered with library marks, aesthetic issue only; all hinges are sound, good reading and reference copies. FYI, volumes 2 shows the title as "Australian [note the 'n'] Pilot" on both the title page and boards... Volumes 3 and 4 show the added 'n' on the covers only. We see a 7-book set on the net, the 3 books we cannot provide all being shorter softbounds.

San Francisco: Popular Mechanics and G.G.I.E. Committee, 1938. Pamphlet. [12p] 6.5x9.5 inches, eight pages in colors (some two-color, some almost-full-color)very good offprint, booster campaign booklet (get-em into the tent) in stapled blue pictorial wraps, stapled rusty, title page a full-color illustration of a model of the South gardens with title above: Treasure Island of 1939" This specially bound reprint of an article from the may issue of Popular Mechanics Magazine is indicative of the nation-wide interest in the 1939 World's Fair on San Francisco Bay as demonstrated by one of America's major publications. Mostly distance views, imaginary or enhanced, including two of modellers reaching into their miniaturized domains. The most curious image is a multicolor aerial view of Treasure Island AFTER the exhibit building have been demolished and the whole artifice turned into radiating runways separated by huge green lawns: "When the fair is finished, the man-made island will become the airport…

A mimeographed manual for the construction of historically accurate model galleys for enthusiastic hobbyists. Includes designs for "Egyptian, Roman, Viking, Moorish, French, and Chinese" varieties. The author was a student at a school whose curriculum was based on the pedagogy of William Warner who has supplied an introductory text. Description:
Leicester: Printed by OUP for the Leicester University Press, 1962. Hardcover. 222p., illustrated with charts, tables, diagrams, and maps of various sorts and periods. Handsome big quarto (11.5x9 inches) with gloriously executed bevelled green cloth boards (gilt) and plain printed dust jacket on matte stock. Foxing is the primary condition problem with this item, aesthetic only, textblock's leading edge is sprinkled with vivid discolorations that have migrated fractionally into the margins of many leaves and affected the dj also. Dj is slightly edgeworn, but besides this trivial wear, the invasive foxing, and a neat little bookseller's fiche to rear pastedown, the item is virtually as new: crisply square, unmarked by human hand.
