Author Cheung right off the bat distinguishes his theory of inclusion from Frank Chin's, see p.1 of Preface; some citizens have worn out their Asian-ness and some immigrants and sojourners qualify.

Atglen PA: Schiffer Military History, 2008. Hardcover. 288p., mammoth heavy pictorial hardbound in glossy laminated boards, 11.5x8.5 inches, and enclosed in the ditto-pic dust jacket. Glazed alkaline paperstock, illustrated with amazing period photoillustrations and many current portraits, color and/or b&w as called-for. A wowser of a book in near-new condition, perfectly sound, clean and unmarked, while the dust jacket is slightly edgeworn, no damage whatsoever. This cataloguer haunted the Naval Postgrad School in the mid-1950s (his mother was librarian) and nothing like this was available, at least not to twelve-year-olds --although having the run of the valuable "Janes All-the-Worlds Aircraft" compendia and thousands of others.

Lens the skilled debater gives inquisitor Sourwine some resistance; about 2/3 of texts here consist in oral testimony, the remainder being previously published writings by Lens. Washington, D.C.: Government Printing Office, 1974. 142 p, wraps, yellowing along binding, mildly shelfworn. Study demonstrating that most Americans did not prefer living in urban areas despite there being an ongoing increase in such population concentration, a paradox attributed in part to an undesirable quality of life. The study was conducted by SRI, Stanford Research Institute. National Science Foundation Research Applied to National Needs Program.

Berkeley: Aaron Cometbus, 2000. Pamphlet. [78]p., text neatly hand-lettered with a wraparound cover drawn by Nate Powell (crowd scene at the Dead End Cafe, a collective eatery and caterers), professional-quality layout and trimming, an 8.5x5.5 inch zine. Nice clean copy. Interviews conducted and transcribed by the editor establish the seductions of living co-operatively and drinking a lot of beer. Foreword claims it as part of the series "case studies in cultural anthropology," but this appears to be photocopied from another, more serious, anthropology book as a joke. Published shortly before the zine's 2004-2006 hiatus (the last issue before the hiatus was No. 49).

Two volumes, 53p. & 62p., 8.5x11 inches each, illustrated with tables and figures, maps, very good booklets, one in stapled glossy wraps the other in spiral binding. Reports on a survey on aging in the 5 Bay Area counties.

San Francisco: City Lights Books, 2002. Paperback. 124p., numerous b&w vignette photoportraits of persons normally known only by name, softbound in 9x6 inch glossy photo-decorated wraps, faint bump to one corner-tip otherwise as new, perfectly sound, clean and unmarked.

San Francisco: National Lawyers Guild, 1996. Spiral_bound. 154p., illustrated with tables, bullet-points and a limited number of media facsimiles, comb-bound in black plastic and marigold cover sheets, a nice clean undamaged copy free of any markings.

New York: the Foundation, 1969. Paperback. 97p., illustrated with a few b&w photoportraits and facsimiles, printed recto-only on standard leaves, a thick fascicle fastened with large effective staples (amateur work, but quite sound), much thumbed and edgeworn with dust-soil and an inked cross-out on front cover, a fair-only copy. Evidently one of a run or series of magazines, here with no clue as to volume/issue, but on one page it thanks patrons who financed this number. Paperback. Matarasso had a distinctive "style" of Ladino; much of the text here is a transcription of a 1967 tape-recorded reading he made of a talk he first gave in 1941.
