Alameda Ca: SELf-published by the editor, 1935. Newspaper. 8p., unfastened newsprint folio leaves printed and folded tabloid-style, very acidic and fragile with advanced chipping, splitting along foldlines. Illustrated with vignette photoportraits of "clean" candidates for police, fire and administrator positions. Charter League campaign literature, aimed at PG&E, draws on TVA statistics to challenge PG&E's fiscal "power octopus" --so characterized in these texts, invoking the Frank Norris novel about rail monopoly in California.

Lyon: Danto-Rogeat & Cie, 1910. Hardcover. 124p., artists' renderings of bathroom fixtures, mostly realistic b&w wash drawings showing a single appliance accompanied by engineering diagrams; in the terminal section (plumbing and towelracks) find multiple images sometimes with commentary. Presswork is on coated alkaline paperstock, hardbound in stiff titled covers fastened with cord. A cloth backstrip is frayed with short splits, cover is soiled with handling as is the title leaf (foredge is filthy) and next several leaves. Some items shown have been overstruck in red, "supprime' " --discontinued. Generally good, with the above reservations; sound and unmarked, if not clean.

Tubingen: Verlag Ernst Wasmuth, 1955. Hardcover. XII, 439p., profulely illustrated with expert sketches both descriptive and explanatory, plus artist's reconstructions (how such & such gate may have looked, &c). Hardbound in openweave blue cloth boards gilt and enclosed in the dust jacket. Nice condition: the book itself has a short bump to tail-rim, the only detraction from crisp squareness, top edge mildly dust-soiled, gilt remains bright, within find a neat small ownership signature. The dj wasn't so lucky; although complete it is very edgeworn with puncturing scratches. All in all a very good copy. Text exclusively in the German language.

Fort Humphreys VA: The Engineer School, 1928. Staplebound. 53p., b&w line maps and charts and a fine large folded "mining operations" map in colors. Softbound in 9x6 inch stapled textblock in punch-holed plain printed grey wraps, relevant clippings laid in. Mild signs of handling and age, covers are pulling away from textblock but still adhered, good copy.

Copenhagen: Nationalmuset / National Museum of Denmark, 1966. Paperback. 266p., illustrated in b&w from period and contemporary photography and images, a few folded plates, handsomely softbound in medium-blue heavy paperstock, text largely in English with occasional cosmopolitan resort to other European languages. Textblock printed with unopened signatures which remain (mostly) joined, the opened leaves done neatly. Overlapping margins of cover stock have suffered mild crimping, a couple tiny tears, and exposure to light sunning. A very good copy. A late 19thC supervisor decreed that whole houses (and cow-barns!) be dismantled on site and moved to the museum itself for museum visitors.

New York: McDevitt-Wilson's, 1919. Hardcover. 142p., original green cloth binding slightly soiled and spotted from loss of sizing, previous owner's name penned on title page, else very good condition.

[Spain]: Strebelwerk Mannheim, 1930. Pamphlet. Unpaginated text and three fullpage sepia plates (plus litho'd cover image in colors), 6x9.5 inch oblong pamphlet in staplebound color wraps. Front cover mildly edgeworn and handled with a touch of dust, back cover bears a sprinkle of adhesion scars that marginally affects the graphic there; staples are rusted with some migration at the centerfold, a good (good-only) copy. Cover litho is a snowbound house, rear image a heavy-duty indoor heater. Plates within show people in various rooms, different sorts of heater unobtrusively at work in each.

Madrid: Tipografia de Gregorio Estrada, 1883. pamphlet. 20p., wraps, wraps worn and lightly toned with a few small ink stains else very good condition. Text in Spanish. Laid in is a [2]p. introduction by chief of telephone service Jose Casas Barbosa. Only one found in OCLC as of 4/2020.

Barcelona: Sociedad General de Aguas de Barcelona, 1925. 63p. + [34]p. of tables, charts, graphs and maps and [16]p. of photographic plates and one fold-out diagram of the water system oblong booklet in wraps, wraps slightly worn else very good condition. Text in Spanish. Cover title: Los Servicios de la Sociedad General de Aguas de Barcelona. El Agua: Su Calidad y Cantidad. Only 6 in OCLC as of 4/2020.

Washington DC: United States Atomic Energy Commission, 1969. Pamphlet. 30p., stapled wraps, 5.5x8,5 inches, illus., ink stain on p1 else very good condition.

San Francisco: Calkins Publishing House, 1908. Hardcover. 282p., frontis, by-laws & rules, addresses, report, photos, tables, lightly worn first edition in brick red cloth boards, small chip in spine panel at the joint.

Washington, DC: Electric Consumers Conference, 1952. Pamphlet. vii, 79, [1]p., illustrations, wraps. 8.5 x 5.5 in. Covers rubbed. Good. The Statement of Principles advocates for public power utilities, lower energy costs, and wildlife/natural conservation to accompany electrification projects.

Menlo Park CA: Porter Bathroom, 2010. Paperback. 208p., a small elaborate catalogue of bath wares, cabinets and lighting, tubs and containers, but curiously no toilets. Includes color swatch, overlaid imagery, an internal cloth backstrip, color exhibit photography, a special info-card laid in, all bells and whistles in good shape, pace a slight misfolding of front cover margin, and a hand-lettered spine title in bold inkpen. Sound, clean, and otherwise unmarked. Example of wares: one may comission a bathing tub carved from a single block of special stone, with a quarried marble top. The work is done in Ireland, the firm only recently opened a branch in California.

New York: Neptune Meter Company, 1954. Paperback. Variously paginated, a compilation aimed at inducing small Alaskan towns to save money by measuring water usage, thus correcting sloppiness, gross leaks, and fraud. Typewritten general text, typed and printed individual reports, supplemented with graphs & stats from all over the US. Clean sound standard leaves printed rectos only, bound utilitarian-fashion in a sturdy folder with spine and cover titling in bronze ink, a good copy. Dated from by-lines of compiled reports, all '54.

Pasadena, CA: The Social University, 1897. Four page newsletter, 8.75x11.5 inches, creased with a few closed tears and stains (paper still white). Later became the Public Ownership Review. The review campaigned for public owners of power companies, railroads, etc.

Buffalo, NY, 1975. Newspaper. [16p.] horizontally folded and toned newsprint, pencil marking at the bottom of cover image 'Buffalo Allentown June 1975,' very good condition. Local scale Buffalo underground newspaper with some colorful split-fountain printing. Contents include comix, 10 Ways to Wreck Your School, a farm collective, home utilities, local violence, etc.

[Buffalo, NY]: NAM Utilities Project [New American Movement], 1976. Pamphlet. [11p.], 7x8.5 inch pamphlet; location penciled on front warp, slight uneven toning, else very good. Campaign by the New American Movement to resist rising costs of gas and electric in Buffalo, NY.

n.p.: Maui-Molokai-Lanai Citizens for Lee, 1970. Handbill. Single leaf folded to make a four-panel 8x4 inch handout, printed red on pale yellow stock, clean and sound, photo of the candidate, a fine exemplar. Notes that Lee's twelve years of service had made Maui, Molokai and Lanai the "most progressive Neighbor Island county." As far as we can determine Lee won his first council position in 1958.

Barcelona: Compania Roca - Radiadores, 1930. Pamphlet. 23p., printed letterpress in two colors throughout with many interiors shown (cut-away diagrams, elevations, floorplans) each with a radiator or a heating vent indicated. Softbound in stapled 6.5x5 inch decorated wraps; staples are rusted, covers are dust- and handling-soiled with spotty foxing, the interior while clean also bears a little foxing. A good (good-only) copy. Text in Spanish. Heavily illustrated booklet advertising heating systems like boilers and radiators. The cover and interior illustrations have many aesthetically striking domestic scenes that emphasize the modern comfort and hygiene attained through indoor heating (cozy living rooms and hot baths). A centerspread has a cutaway illustration of the "typical" Spanish home. Rear cover has an illustration of the factories where the heating solutions are manufactured. The disposition of furniture in these idealized drawings is oddly compelling, like peeking into an expensive dollhouse.

Barcelona: Jose y Amado Mingrat, 1925. Pamphlet. [20] pp., chiefly color illustrations, color pictorial wraps. 7.5 x 6.75 in. Manufacturer's ink stamps on inside front and rear cover. Front cover illustration signed: "Cleo." Light to moderate foxing to covers and final two leaves, staples slightly rusted. Text in Spanish. Heavily illustrated booklet advertising heating systems like boilers and radiators.
