Copyright ends at 1965, No Edition, No Printing Stated. Last page has 72-73-74-75 10 9. The American Edition is the Second Edition. This is a First American Edition with a 1972 (later) Printing. The dust jacket has some soiling with tears at edges of the spine and corners, see photos. Book itself is in Near Fine condition with the exception of a stain inside the cover which transferred to the FEP and bled onto two pages beneath. (Lowered the rating to Very Good). The black boards with blue lettering have bumped spine edges.

Some soiling on exterior pages, dents on cover, corners & top edge of spine are rubbed. Signed, personalized on title page as shown. Creased bottom corner, crease backside. One page inside is bent, the back cover corner has a small crease with the last pages bent also.

This is a small book of poetry by Madame de Basily in English. Her story can be read on the Hoover Institution website. She is American born and the donor of the items in the Nicolas de Basily room. This book was published in Paris the year after her marriage in November, 1919. Her husband was the Diplomat of Imperial Russia 1903 - 1917. The poetry in this 31 page book is dated 1915 - 1917. It appears to be one of a kind. There are marbled end papers plus three from, front and back. The cover has wear as shown. There is foxing from page 21 onward. The poems are titled: In Tifles, The Cry of Holy Russia, Anarchist Lullaby, Human Wreckage, Afternoon Service in the Alexander Newsky Monastery, The Kremlin, White Night on the Gulf of Finland,Republic of Cronstadt, ProphesyTo Life. There is also a dedication to her mother. Mr. and Mrs. de Basily are buried in Baltimore. Land, Estates, and Wealth were never recovered in Russia.

Booklet 48 pp. Stapled wraps.  Appears to be First Thus. Condition is very good.

Hardcover has major foxing or spots. 101 pages which were done on a substandard typewriter and didn't always copy well. Melancholy poetry which appears to be a search for God. I felt the need to bring this effort to the attention of the public. Ships with delivery confirmation.

Book In Near Fine Condition. Has two piece of tape stains on front end page from removal of previous bookplate otherwise Fine.

Appears to be the original binding. The backstrip is very worn with pieces missing. The cloth is chipped and stained. The leather corners are worn. The date on the dedication page is May 19, 1817. The hinges are intact. There is a paper bookplate. Amor Vincit Omnia means Love Conquers All Things. Damp staining and very foxed. No bad smells. Just smells like an old book. States Fourth Edition 1817. This is the English edition printed by A. Strahan Printers - Street London. Book is complete with multiple end papers.

Arnoldo Mondadori Edition, Contemporary Classic Italian, November 1979. Printed in Italy, text in Italian. Sun fading to spine with small tears at the top. Some top edgewear on volume 1 and a couple of soil spots. Volume 1 has creased bottom page tips at the back index section, photographed. Volume 2 has two top page corners creased near the front. Royal blue boards with blue ribbon book marks and top edges dyed blue. Remainder marks (black marker lines) on the bottom edge of both books. Old price sticker inside slipcase. Some soiling to all around paper design. Very Good condition overall.

Has some pen marks on contents page to mark favorites. Name & date of 1895 written on front end page & name only on first page of poems. 496 pages. Book has a little bit of soiling and some bent page tips. First 3 pages almost fully detached from spine, seam split. Back closth inside cover is seperated from spine but held together with mesh-like material. No dust jacket. Edges of cover & corners are very worn. Book has wear from movement marks. Gilt lettering on navy cover with gilt leaf wreath on front.

Cracked hinge, name and old price is written in pencil on the front end page. Book is complete - rest of the inside is VG. Cover is very worn along the edges and corners and is soiled. Please see photos.

No dust jacket. Burgundy cover with gilt lettering and wreath decorations. Name on page backside of frontispiece. Cover has some edge wear, slightly rubbed corners, and a small nick on the back edge. Movement marks & some stipling typle dots on cover. Paper is splitting by spine as shown. Very Good overall.

Signed by Charles' son Edward after his death to Major Booth with the mailing label attached to inside cover. On half title page, "In memory of Charles R. Mabey To: Major C.C. Booth With Sincere Best Wishes! Edward M. Mabey" After the Preface is written, "Charles Mabey passed away 4/26/59." No dust jacket. HC is in fair condition due to a bookcover having been removed which removed portions of the burgundy cover, please see photos. The inside is in VG condition. There is discoloration along the inside binding.

These two books are from Elgin, IL where William Stafford completed his camp experience for being a conscientious objector during World War II. The Oregon Encyclopedia states that the author worked as a secretary for the Church of the Brethren in Elgin, IL which ended in 1946. The previous owner's name is written on both FFEP. He served in the Church of the Brethren General Offices in Elgin as the literary editor and book editor 1939 - 1959 per the Brethren Historical Libraries & Archives. There is a note that was paper clipped inside The Rescued Year which talks about how he knew Bill and what "Grandpa", the previous owner, thought of these two "lightweight books". The paperclip left two marks on the FFEP next to Ora's name. There were also several newspaper articles laid in which discolored the first four pages.
