Lengthy (17 page) Prefatory remarks by Strothers Burt. Frontis plus four more full color plates and 74 monochrome lithographic drawings in sepia. The color plates are lovely works showing the people and symbols of America, Russia, France and England, with brilliant colors and painted in his amazing miniaturist detail. Large 4to (9" x 12 1/2"), full black morocco. Handmade endpapers match the paper-covered slipcase, done in a geometric design not unlike Batik. Fine, no previous owner's marks. Box is slightly faded at one end, light wear to the rounded slipcase guides at top and bottom. Lydis, Mariette. #193 of 320 numbered copies, part of the final 200 standard copies numbered from 71 to 320.  Largo 4to, consisting of all loose signatures, ready for choice of binding in the French style. 20 full page drypoint etchings by Mariette Lydis of distinctly erotic nature to match the verses. Delicately touched with color highlights. Abundant nudity. The signatures are enclosed in stiff cream colored wraps printed in red. Protected by a tan paper-covered hardbound chemise with spine titling, and that inside a tan paper-covered slipcase with brown cloth framing the opening. The slipcase and chemise show signs of fingering and the bottom of the slipcase is beginning to split on one side, but the internal materials are fine and bright. Overall a handsome copy in a very good slipcase.
