Condition: VERY GOOD- : light edgewear to suede covers, a small chip out of bottom corner, faint soiling, front endpapers are separating at the hinge but book is tight, pages are clean. One of the Sesame Booklets, this is number 37 [stated at end of text]; there is a page of the front matter listing numbers 49 - 50. Frederick Hollyer (1838-1933) was a noted celebrity photographer of the Victorian and Edwardian eras; he also made photographic reproductions of paintings. The frontispiece in this miniature book is a photograph of George Frederic Watts' most famous and influential painting "Hope.

Hemans (1793-1835), born Felicia Dorothea Browne in Liverpool, was very popular in her day, her poems read and respected alongside her contemporaries Shelley, Wordsworth, Byron, Coleridge, etc. She had five children in six years, was abandoned by her husband, spent the rest of her life writing in order to survive and was dead by the age of forty-one.
