Johannes Mynsert, s'Gravenhage, 1777. First Edition. Softcover. Good/No Jacket. 159 pages (complete). In High Dutch throughout. A much owned copy of this RARELY encountered book. Laid rag-paper. The boards are much worn and aged all about. The spine has, at some stage, been repaired with brown paper tape. The boards are bubbled, marked, scuffed, well handled. Despite this abuse, they are steady and resolute. The contents are more pleasing. The frontis and end pages have been cut in half. The half-title page has a previous owner signature. This and the title page have this same owner's stamp. The paper edges are aged and benignly worn. The top trims of the pages have some storage marks. The pages are also waved from storage conditions and age. The pages, however, are delightfully clean and clear. They are resoundingly healthy, confident, bold, sound, assured, competent, orderly, certain. fk. Our orders are shipped using tracked courier delivery services.

Apus Haeredes Joh. Grossi, Lipsiae [Leipzig], 1726. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket. 208 pages plus index (complete). In Latin throughout. Fully covered in parchment. Cloth paper. A VERY RARE and MOST pleasing copy of this history of Roman Law from the busy jurist, Christian Hoffmann. Especially taking the book's age into account, this book is wonderful to hold, read, and to turn the pages. The boards have wear, scuffing and marks. They are benevolent, venerable. They are steady and sound. There is some wear to the spine seams, but the book's security and facility are unaffected. The contents are in excellent condition. There are, of course, age related marks, areas of tanning and foxing. In general, and by far, the contents are healthy, tidy, well maintained and preserved. The chapter, "Fragmenta Edicti Perpetui in Corpore Juris Romano-Justinianei Dispersa, ad mentem vir. clariss. G Vil. Ranchini, Jac. Gothofredi, Gerardi Noodtii aliorumque Collecta Atque…

De Gebroeders Van Cleef, Gravenhage , 1914. 7th Edition. Hardcover. Near Fine/No Jacket. 1121 pages (complete). In Dutch throughout. Of most interest is the former owner signature: R P CLEVERINGA. Cleveringa was not only a Professor of Law at Leiden University, but he was also a Dutch Resistance hero during the Nazi Occupation. When he made a speech protesting at the dismissal of his Jewish peers, he was immediately arrested and imprisoned at Scheveningen, the so-called 'Orange Hotel' for the number of resistance fighters imprisoned there. He later, in another camp, helped coordinate the Resistance. After the war he was much rewarded for his contribution. In 2004 he was named 'The Greatest Person from Leiden University' by the university magazine. In 2015 his speech was declared the greatest in Dutch history. The book is sound, confident.
